But Awt, which causes white sheep, is a pattern, not a color, and covers up all other patterns and colors. Since there are two genes at the pattern locus and she threw something other than white, she must be Awt/? (may Ag, since the lamb looks like it could end up grey?) not Awt/Awt. I have heard that there are solid black or brown sheep that appear white when they carry two spotting genes that cause a "big white spot," but that doesn't sound like what is going on with Jaqui. Aren't Shetland genetics FUN?!? ;-)Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01550786937196525098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412472879154317120.post-25117787948593441162011-04-10T19:54:46.496-04:002011-04-10T19:54:46.496-04:00Thanks everyone :)

Black I believe is dominant to brown. Because her ram lamb is black with white markings I am assuming she carries the black gene. I guess I was just assuming if she's white then her lambs would be white as that would be dominant to the brown.Shulahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04357891034163165341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412472879154317120.post-88623416557761473812011-04-10T19:18:46.563-04:002011-04-10T19:18:46.563-04:00They are SO so so so cute!!!They are SO so so so cute!!!Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08707037151404133158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412472879154317120.post-24041884217923661362011-04-10T18:59:52.778-04:002011-04-10T18:59:52.778-04:00Educate me, Shula. My white ewe has LOTS of black spots on her ears and face, but she is definitely Awt/Aa.Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01550786937196525098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412472879154317120.post-87971280716534073362011-04-10T17:23:19.967-04:002011-04-10T17:23:19.967-04:00They are just adorable! They are just adorable!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02444138702488259106noreply@blogger.com
